I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Tartu in 1998 and completed an obstetrics and gynaecology residency (2006). In 2021, I was the first in Estonia to pass the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO) oncologic gynaecology certification exam. Since completing my residency, I have been working as an oncologic gynaecologist at North Estonia Medical Centre, diagnosing malignant as well as benign gynaecological tumours, conducting surgical treatment and managing post-treatment monitoring. My special interest involves the early detection and treatment of pre-cancerous conditions of the cervix, for which I perform colposcopy investigations. In 2020, I was a member of the working group for the Estonian Cervical Cancer Screening Code of Conduct. Since 2011, I have also been working as an on-call gynaecologist at Rakvere Hospital, helping women with acute gynaecological problems.

I am committed to maintaining and improving women’s health. I like the versatility of obstetrics and gynaecology. I can deal with diagnostics, surgery, hormonal conditions, benign and malignant tumours as well as counselling related to obstetrics and contraception. My main interest is in oncologic gynaecology, where I diagnose malignant and benign tumours. I perform both simple and complex oncologic surgeries using both open and laparoscopic methods. I believe that counselling can reduce women’s fears, both in the face of complicated procedures as well as frightening diagnoses. I counsel and monitor women after cancer treatment as well as women who have been found to have a genetic mutation that increases their risk of developing gynaecological tumours. Working in the field of oncologic gynaecology is a team effort, where the most important treatment decisions are made during a council in cooperation with various specialists. I really enjoy my work as part of a multidisciplinary team. I appreciate that prevention is possible in oncology as well. I advise women to participate in cancer screening and get vaccinated against HPV.
