Look for appointment timesOrchiepididymectomy, also known as the removal of the testicular apparatus, is a surgical procedure in which the epididymis, or the tube-like structure located at the back of the testicle, is removed. This procedure may be necessary in cases of epididymitis, tumor, or injury.
The operation is usually performed under general anesthesia. During the surgery, an incision is made in the scrotum, and then the epididymis is removed. If a tumor is present, the entire testicle may also be removed.
After the operation, patients may experience pain, swelling, and bruising. Patients are typically advised to rest and follow the doctor’s recommendations for pain relief. Heavy physical activity should be avoided during the first few weeks after surgery.
