Hydrocele surgery or surgery for fluid-filled testicles
Look for appointment timesA hydrocele is a collection of fluid around one or both testicles in the scrotum. It is not painful, but depending on the size, it can cause discomfort and is considered a cosmetic problem.
Treatment options:
If the hydrocele is not causing discomfort or any other symptoms, monitoring the patient is enough. Fluid can be removed by aspiration, where a needle is used to drain the fluid from the scrotum. However, the fluid can accumulate again after some time.
Surgical treatment can restore the normal anatomy of the scrotum. The surgery takes 45-60 minutes and is performed under general anesthesia. An incision is made in the scrotum area to remove the fluid and hydrocele sac.
