IPL acne treatment
Look for appointment timesAcne treatment with IPL is for people with mild to moderate inflammatory acne. IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a method where intense pulsed light is directed into the deeper layers of the skin, significantly improving the appearance of the skin. The laser beam, with a specific wavelength used for the IPL treatment, penetrates the layer of skin where the sebaceous glands are located and destroys acne-causing bacteria by raising the temperature of the tissues. This reduces inflammation and redness of the skin as well as sebum secretion. In addition, IPL stimulates the synthesis of collagen, which makes the skin more elastic and firm.
IPL is a common technology used worldwide to treat acne. Our clinic uses a modern Lumenis M22 device. The specialist selects and modifies the parameters and filters according to the patient’s skin problems and the desired results, using light wavelengths between 400 and 1200 nm. Light beams can be used to specifically target the problem area without damaging the surrounding skin. IPL’s short, rapid pulses make the treatment relatively painless and comfortable.
The IPL treatment can be performed as a monotherapy, on average four to eight times depending on the problem and the degree of acne; however, a complex approach is recommended for best results. In addition to the procedures performed with the IPL device, lifestyle and proper daily skin care are important and, if necessary, acid peels and antibiotic treatment as well. A referral to a dermatologist may be required to prescribe treatment.
Before performing the procedure, we recommend consulting a laser treatment specialist regarding the suitability of the procedure and to avoid possible risks and complications. During the consultation, a specialist will make a thorough facial analysis, evaluate the possible results, explain everything related to the treatment and give instructions for proper aftercare at home.
