A dental implant, or artificial root, is a metal screw that can essentially replace an individual’s own tooth root. A dental implant is the safest, most aesthetic and natural way to replace a missing or extracted tooth.

During the initial consultation, a specialist will review the patient’s bite and assess the condition of the bone and tissues. If necessary, the doctor will take X-rays of your teeth. The specialist will let you know whether the implant can be placed immediately or if additional procedures are required beforehand. Implantation is most effective when the patient has sufficient bone and soft tissue. After gathering the necessary information, the doctor will create a treatment plan together with the patient. The doctor will also schedule an appointment for placing the implant. Additional examinations and materials used are not included in the consultation fee.

An anaesthetic is used for implantation. After the procedure, the implant will attach to the tissues of the jawbone, typically fusing in four to eight months. After this, we can continue with prosthetic treatment. However, it is important to keep in mind that the healing process is individual.

Contraindications:

• Chronic smoking (including snus)
