Dr Ene Miller has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine (1986) and from the specialty of ear, nose and throat diseases (1988) at the University of Tartu. The doctor highly values professional development and over the years, has attended numerous courses, trainings and otolaryngology congresses both in Estonia and abroad. Ene is a member of the Estonian Medical Association, Estonian Ear, Nose and Throat and Head and Neck Surgeons Society and a member of the South Karelia Medical Association. As an ear, nose and throat specialist, Dr Miller’s job is to diagnose the diseases in this region, identify the treatment opportunities and perform surgeries if necessary. As this region is prone to frequent acute diseases, it is important for the doctor to have good cooperation relations with general practitioners to reduce the occurrence of chronic diseases.

As an ear-nose-throat doctor, my job is diagnosing illnesses in that area and determining possible treatments as well as providing surgical treatments, if necessary. The field has connections with many other fields. I think cooperation between fields is important in order to view the patient as a whole organism. As people often experience acute illnesses in this area, it is especially important to work alongside family doctors to decrease the chance of chronic illness.
