Dr Sirje Kõvask graduated from the Department of Care of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Tartu in 1976. She became a cardiologist in 1983. In her daily inpatient and outpatient work as a teaching physician at Tartu University Hospital Department of Cardiac Surgery, she deals with the entire spectrum of heart diseases, prevention of heart diseases and congenital heart disease in adulthood. A teaching physician also instructs and gives lectures to residents. Dr Sirje Kõvask is a member of the Estonian Society of Hypertension and the Estonian Society of Cardiology, taking part in the working group on echocardiography and congenital heart disease.
